Whether you need a place to unwind or you’re looking for a place to contain your rowdy group, Poag Mahone’s Ale House is the place to call. This old style Chicago saloon turns back the clock to the classic turn of the century ale house. Tin ceilings, tile floors, and a huge 28 foot oak bar bring you back to the times when Chicago was known for its slaughterhouses, tanneries, the Chicago Union Stock Yards and for its characters.

Poag Mahone’s is serving up American cuisine, specializing in foods from our carvery; heaping portions of hand carved fresh turkey, roast beef, and corned beef make some of Chicago’s best sandwiches and hot plates. Other items that will tempt you are Poag’s famous 9oz burger that comes with its own bill of rights and our private label steak chili.

Poag Mahone’s is the perfect place for your event. Whether it is a quick casual lunch or a cocktail party for 200, Poag Mahone’s will make your event something to remember.

If Poag Mahone’s is not the perfect place for your event, but our food is, let us know! With our full service catering license, we’ll bring the whole shebang to you, from the terrific food and cold beer, right down to Poag’s friendly servers. We’d prefer to deliver somewhere with in the state of Illinois, but we love adventure and can probably be talked into just about anything. Can you say, “R O A D T R I P?”

The Rules

If you come in before 10:30 am Monday through Friday we won't be here, & we have to kick you out before
1:00 am . We are normally closed on weekends, so that's a terrific time to take over the whole place and act like you own the joint.

Menu prices are subject to change (only during the third week of the half moon or whenever other people change theirs, so sign your contract quickly). We don't have a room charge, but there may be a food & beverage minimum. To hold the space we will need a credit card to guarantee the event. We will not charge your card, unless you stand us up, because that just makes us feel sad. We have to charge you tax, because we hate going to jail more than we hate getting held up by the government, as of now it is 10.25%. We also charge a 20% gratuity to take care of our terrific servers. Of course, you have to pay for your event when it's over, but you can pay with cash, credit card or company check. We will take your money in almost any way you want to give it to us.

To make both our lives easier, we need to know how many people are coming sometime before your party. We will charge you for these people, unless you are even more loved than you think and more people decide to come, in which case we'll charge for the larger number.

Host Bar

Drink what you want. One person gets stuck with the bill at the end of the party. Isn’t this how it works most of the time?

Cash Bar

You drink it you buy it. Each drink is charged to the guest who drinks it.

All packages are priced on two hours of consumption. We will even throw in house wines, coffee, teas & sodas in the packages. Two hours not enough for ya? Additional hours can be purchased. (Cognacs, cordials, ports & shots are not included)
